Buffalo Crescent Ring

Category:

Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmmm! This was delicious. I'm typically not a big fan of anything "buffalo" (because I'm a big pansy), but this hit the spot! I had two servings for dinner, and it's not really like me to go back for seconds.

So let's get right to it then!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans crescent rolls (brand doesn't matter as long as each can contains 8)
  • Your favorite jar of buffalo sauce
  • 8oz (1 box) of cream cheese, room temp/softened
  • 1 packet of ranch mix
  • 3 stalks of celery, finely chopped
  • 1/2-1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • Optional: 1 large carrot, finely chopped
  • 2 cups of cooked chicken or firm/extra firm tofu
  • salt to taste
  • ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping

Step one: Preheat oven to 375. If your chicken or tofu is not already cooked, cook it now.

Never cooked tofu before. It was...interesting. It's a weird texture and doesn't really brown to indicate it's being cooked, you kinda just have to guess/wing it. We didn't get sick, so I guess I did an okay job. Wait, do you even cook tofu? I know so little.. :(

Step two: Begin chopping your onion, celery, and carrot. I just used my food processor for this. Technically, you can just put all your ingredients in the food processor and be done, but who has a food processor big enough for that? Not me! The carrot is not in the original recipe. I added it and am glad I did. It added to the taste and made it all the more yummy.

Step three: Mix your celery, onion, carrot, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing mix, and softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl.

Does anyone else find the toxic orange color of buffalo sauce alarming?

Step four: Once your tofu or chicken has cooked, gently add it to your mixture and fold it in.

Step five: Prepare your crescent rolls on a sheet of aluminum foil or cookie sheet. Open one can at a time, divide the rolls into fourths (rectangles), and lay out as shown in the picture with the ends touching one another, making a circle.

Step six: Open the second can of crescent rolls, and divide into fourths again. Place these on top of the first rolls in between each gap. Make sure they are all touching, and pinch together any gaps.

Step seven: Spoon your mixture onto the solid parts of the crescent rolls to form a circle.

Step eight: Fold your topmost crescent rolls on top of the mixture, pinching down the end to the base of the roll so nothing spills out.

Step nine: Repeat with the bottom rolls. Pinch together any exposures in the seams so you minimize leaking.

Step ten: Bake for 20 minutes or until the crescents are browned. Serve warm with ranch or blue cheese dressing and enjoy!

I was a little disappointed with all the leftover mixture I had. What on Earth am I going to do with all of this?

I'd say I only used about half the mixture. If anyone can think of any creative ideas/recipes to use this with, please let me know in the comment section below!

This was a hit for both me and my husband! You really must try this one night! We took some to a friend and she also enjoyed it!
